Tea Cup Exchange

Imagine my delight when I sent S to get the mail and she came back bearing a package. I am expecting an etsy order. I just had to have some Cath Kidston fabric-at a non-Cath Kidston price. Just bits really but I plan on using them on a Disney shirt...that will come MUCH later. I am also expecting another package from a site called Own The Magic. I was naughty and bought a bed cover that came from the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I really shouldn't have. But I just couldn't help myself. I am a Disney freak. The package wasn't from either one of those places though. It was from a lovely lady named Patti who is from Illinois. My new tea cup buddy. Oh. My. Stars. This lady. It is almost as if she had been peeking into my being. She new exactly what I liked. I don't know how but she did. I really am at a loss for words. I think I will list what she sent and then show the pictures. The pictures...not very good. It's a bit cloudy here so they aren't as bright as I wanted but I'm not going to wait to get these up, the lovely Miss Patti needs to be thanked profusely!!!
It started with the wrapping paper. So cute. S helped me unwrap it all and it just kept getting better. S is only 16, doesn't drink tea but proclaimed that she wanted to be in a tea cup exchange. She does love tea cups though :)

1. The most beautiful tea cup. I have been looking at tea cups lately and I have noticed this kind and decided that I was going to find one like it to buy for myself. I don't need to now. See...Patti was reading my mind :)
2. A little pouch of green buttons...vintage buttons. Again, here recently I have been looking for vintage buttons to go on some of my crochet and other little projects. How does she do it?
3. A cute little tea bag caddy. Seriously, its almost freaky how she knew what I wanted. Just last month I was telling H that I wanted one of these. How cool is it to be able to carry around tea and have it at your finger tips when you need it?
4. A sweet, beautiful hanky. So lovely. I've put it on some tea canisters in my hoosier cabinet.
5. And a sheet of paper with cute little sayings for cute little kids.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

For give the interruption of one nosey cat

Look how cute the envelope is!!!

All this makes me feel a bit inadequate in what I sent to my other new tea cup friend Wanda from California. All I sent was a tea cup, some Texas tea and a Texas cup towel. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of those...what was I thinking? So I will be sending letters off to both of these lovely ladies in the near future. Feeling quite blessed today!

Happy Valentine's Day and Yes, I became One of Those People This Morning

Whew! Long title. First off Happy Valentine's Day. Hate the day. Well, I hate that society forces us to declare our love for some one on a particular day. I can do that without heart shaped candy boxes :) Not to mention that fact that it has been hijacked from the original. Just google St. Valentine. So much more than "romance". Hmmm, can you tell that I'm not really an ooey-gooey type person? Don't get me wrong. I love a good love story or a romantic gesture from my husband like everybody else, I'm just a bit practical too. My favorite gift my husband gave me was a little tool kit just for me. WHAT? Tools for Valentine's? Yep. Why, oh, why is that my favorite? Because it proved that he was listening and he got me something that wasn't useless. Of course I have lost every single one of those tools now...it was 20 yrs ago :) And on a sad note my husband left today for work. It's a good thing but a bit sad for a Valentine.

Now, what is this about becoming one of Those People? I confess. I was bored this morning and I looked at a boat load of goofy cat pictures. I know, I know. How could I let myself do that? I just couldn't help it. They are so DARN cute. Geeze louise if I had been drinking tea I would have sprayed some out of my nose on some of those pictures.

Ooops, gotta go. The girls are clamoring to go to the mall and we are getting a late start. I will leave you with some cute pictures of my own cats. I dare you to not think they are not absolutely precious ( I am not the least bit prejudice am I?)

.

Edit: Crazy, stupid idea to go to the mall today. Not only was it a Saturday but VALENTINE'S DAY. I guess people just think they need to be out on a "holiday". Wow, was it ever crowded!! Lesson learned :) P.S. I did get some really awesome Mickey Mouse leggings---and NO I do not wear leggings out in public. I couldn't do that to people!!

Afternoon Sun

I really didn't know what to title this post--I have such a hard time with titles--I'm just not that creative when it comes to them. Right then, on to my afternoon in the sun. It is an absolutely glorious day! Bright sun and warm weather. Right now it is scrumptious 79 degrees in my backyard. You have no idea how it makes me feel to have the sun out. Or, you might. You may be a sunshine type a person too. But I truly become a nicer person, a more relaxed person when the sun comes out. Since it is such a beautiful afternoon H decided to take Tuck the Turtle out for a bit of a grassy stroll. While out she hollered at me to come on out too because the woodpecker was out. Oh, absolutely! I grabbed my camera and went to town. Not only did I get one, I got two. If I am correct and by no means am I an ornithologist,  one is a female red-bellied woodpecker and the other is a male yellow-bellied sapsucker. And of course, some of our other furries came out too. But I only got pics of Bunny. Moxie and Bella were too busy roaming around.
 Male yellow bellied sapsucker.
 Sapsucker
 Isn't he a beauty!
Tuck is happy to be out
Bunny doesn't look to interested in Tuck here. Why should she, he is giving her his rear end.
 But she does here--sort of
H liked this shot. She said it looks artsy. I had to snicker at that.

Female red-bellied. I love this picture. I really think I am liking my new camera!
 Bunny
 New growth on my cactus.
Blooms on my lemon tree. My Aunt gave it to me. It came from my Grandmother's old place. Or what I rather lovingly call The Homestead. I am really hoping that it doesn't die. And if it doesn't die, will then produce some lemons ;)
I do so home you guys are having some sunshine in your neck of the woods.

Tea Cup Exchange

Guess what? Ok, so if you look real close at the title you can guess. I'm just so excited!!!  Not sure if I've mentioned it before but I LOVE tea. Teacups, too. So imagine how excited I was when I came across this Stephanie's website The Enchanting Rose. She is currently having a tea cup and mug exchange. I have never done one of these before. Did I mention that I am EXCITED about this? Have any of ya'll ever done a tea cup/mug exchange? I can't wait to see who I get to send one too. I think I am more excited about sending than I am about receiving. I am looking forward to sending a little bit of Texas to some lucky person :)

To get you in a tea cup mood I will show you my tea cups. Yes, I know they aren't many. Really, I just have the one from Disney, one vintage melamine that came from my Mom and the one's that came in the china I got for graduation from my Grandmother. She received the set from one of my Aunts when her husband was stationed in Okinawa when he was in the army.( Was that a bit of a run on sentence? I think it might be--oops)

So those are my tea cups...on my newly painted, old toy box. Oh, looky, they match :) Honestly, it wasn't planned. The box was sitting outside drying after I sprayed a clear coat on it.  And as you can see it has been a glorious day today. Sunny and in the 70's. In my opinion, the perfect weather.
Now I believe I may just go and make myself a nice cup of tea.

One Year

Woo hoo. My little blog here is one yr. old. Can't believe I've been at it a year now. Oh, I know it's not much of a blog, with little amounts of viewing. I'm ok with that. I like small things. I mainly started it as a place to put my crochet and what not. So, Happy Anniversary to my little blog and I :)

Some what not: I mentioned last time that I am working on fixing up an old toy box of mine. It is just that. Old and a box. Nothing fancy. Completely homemade. If I am not mistaken I think my Dad built it. But I could be WAY off and be miss-remembering. I'll have to check on that. Unimportant-moving on. I am just about finished. All I need to do is finish some dots and figure out what I want to do with the inside. I've thought of covering it with fabric but I just don't think I want to try it. I'll just probably go ahead and paint it the tan. I'm about ready to be done with it.

Without further ado, here are my pictures.

As you can see I didn't like the way I did the flowers the first time. So I sanded them and then painted over. I like it much better---as long as you don't look real close. Not perfect by any means.

Like I said, all I need to do is to do something with the inside and erase some pencil edges and I'm done. Now, what to do with it? I might just put it in the spare room and keep yarn in it. I'll use it on its side and not as a box.

For all of you who have stopped by over the past year....Thank You and God Bless.
