Randomness

Just different flowers in my yard. Don't know what they are. They came in a mixed flower packet.
The last one is my wild poinsettia. It was a cloudy day so they really aren't showing up as vibrant as they really are.

This is my little Anole friend. Everyday he comes out to sun him. He never leaves the Mother-in-Law plant. He has the most beautiful skin, whether green or brown. My favorite is when it is in between the two.
I cant but think of Jurassic Park with the last picture. You know the scene where the guy looks up and sees the Velociraptor and says "clever girl". OOoooo, I just get chills :) My favorite part of the whole movie!

I am heading out tomorrow to my Sister's in Louisiana. I am very much looking forward to it. It will be just me. Yeppers. I and I alone will be traveling. I really am looking forward to seeing my Mom and Sister. We don't have much planned. My Sister is in a Goodwill mood so she wants to hit all the stores in the area. Of course, we will get some beignets. There is a hole in the wall place near her that has better beignets than Cafe Du Mondes in New Orleans. Of course, it is probably the same mix they use but the old little building would certainly add flavor to anything!

I hope ya'll are having much drier days than I am.

Sun, Sand and Seagulls

There is a little man made beach less than five minutes from my house. You can tell by the sand. It is in a protected spot in the bay so there are only tiny waves and you can go way out and it is still only as deep as your knees. For me it is the perfect spot to get about an hours worth of sun, sand and seagulls. There is one itty, bitty problem though....this is across the water from us.

I wouldn't say it is in the direct line of view but its there. Yes, I live smack-dab in the middle of two chemical plants. I know some of you are cringing right about now, but it is what it is and I'm stuck living here for now.

Though it was a bit cloudy we took advantage of the straw umbrellas. As you can see the beach is connected with a campground.

While I was laying there soaking up the sporadic sun, I just had to take some pictures of these guys. I  couldn't resist taking a picture of the cute little knobby knees. And I crack myself up every time I see this last one. I don't know why, I just do.

I think I will be going back as soon as I have some more free time and get the annual pass for the beach. It is less than twenty dollars for the year. Since we also go walking here it is good deal!!! I love my little beach!!

Cedar Wasxwings

Looky what I had nesting in my tree the other evening. Cedar Waxwings. I have never seen them before. Oh. My. Are they ever gorgeous. I am SO happy that my camera has an awesome zoom. I just happened to glance up in my tree and saw these guys and I knew that they weren't a natural part of my birdy friends. So I ran for my camera---running with fingers crossed---hoping that they would still be there when I got back. Yea!!! They were. I must have taken about 60 photos. Basically all the same. I just couldn't stop taking pictures!!! I'm still just so giddy with excitement. I usually just see a handful of different birds so when I see a different one....I just want to burst. My poor girls were just looking at me like "whatever". I went back out the next evening but they had already moved on.
Thank you Lord for small Blessings!

Current WIPs

This is my Cinderella inspired baby blanket. You can see that I still have some ends I need to sew in. I'm not all that thrilled with it. I don't like the carriage. I might take it off and do a different one. Not absolutely sure yet. I just don't like the thingy at the top. Its all wonky.

This is the beginnings of my Mickey Mouse inspired baby blanket. I will put a mickey head silhouette in the center red block. I have quite a sew more rounds to go.

I bet you are wondering why baby blankets.....hmmmm? Just my school having its annual gala fundraiser for teachers. I will be donating these for the auction. The Cinderella one I started a while back when I didn't have anything else to do. The Mickey one I came up with just for the gala....of course with some great hints from Pinterest!!! I sure have had fun making them!
I'm now off to go walking with my girls.

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend. I sure am!

Just Another Blah Saturday

The weather is very much blah again!! Cloudy,
cloudy with bits of rain here and there. Some very big bits of rain too. We lost power for a bit on Thursday and the next town over had some minor damage due to a tornado.  I'm so very grateful it missed us and no one was hurt!

I've been filling in at school with the pre-k 4 class. Wow! I love kids SO much but I am glad I'm not in there all the time anymore. It was a rough week. 16 of those little cutie pies. Some were very challenging!!! Sweeties but challenging!

Last Sunday S and I went to my Aunt's house for a visit and to go through some stuff she has collected over the years. Her and her Husband have been going to auctions and estate sales for about 15 yrs. They have decided tosale their house so she is needing to purge. I did my best to help her out but I don't think I made much of a dent :-)

Here is what I brought home. Not a bad haul.

I got some good Christmas stuff. Lots of cute vintage ornaments, quite a few brass candle sticks, S got a few figurines. I just had a great time. Not only did I get some goodies but I got to spend some time with my Aunt!

Even with it being quite blah today I really tried to be outside. It's just not working for me. I did manage to get a few pictures of some of the stuff I'm growing.

There are actually the first flower's I have ever been able to grow from seeds! I just don't seem to have a green thumb when it comes to flowers. Don't ask me what kind they are because I have no idea :) They are part of a wild seed package. I just sprinkled them in the bucket and woohoo they grew!

If you look real close you can see the jalapeƱo growing. My husband picked these out. He lovers to make poppers for the grill. And if you don't happen to know what poppersare-- they are jalapeƱos stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon....at least that is our version... so good!!!!

And these are my wild poinsettia fluffing out and my aloe vera blooming. The poinsettia sprouted on its own from one of my mom's plants and the aloe I got almost 25 yrs ago from a guy my husband worked with. We were still newlyweds and it was one of my very first plants. I love that it is still going strong!! Like my marriage !!!???!!! Haha.

Well, I think the dreariness has really gotten to me. I might just have to curl up on the couch and watch a movie and finish off one of my crochet projects.  More on that later :)

HoPe ya'll are having a great weekend!!

Life

A lot has been going on lately and I don't know how many times I have started to post. I guess I've been a bit non-committal lately :) Not to mention that any and all pictures I have taken lately will not post. Nope, not a single one. Something is up-or shall we say down?- with my computer. I'm at a loss. I know NOTHING about computers. Just enough to get me by :)

Easter was fabulous! Mass was one of the best in a long time. Father really gave it his all that Sunday. I just love our current priest. He is young yet very old school. Lots of bells and incense :) Literally :) He is just awesome!

All is going well at the MudgiePie household. My oldest came for a short visit a week or so ago. She is doing great! She is planning a trip to New Zealand. I sure hope it doesn't fall through and they really get to go. She is most excited about getting to see Hobbiton. She is a massive Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fan. I was so proud of her when she first read JRR Tolkein at 11 yrs. She was hooked right from the start!

S just had UIL One Act Play. She did fabulous!!!! She is so darn cute! Unfortunately they didn't get to progress on. She did well but she is glad it is over!

H and I started watching the Alien movies. That is something big for H. She HATES scary movies. We have already seen the first two and will be seeing the third one today sometime. It really is fun to watch them with her. She stays hidden under the blanket or behind the cat most of the time :)

I've been crocheting a lot lately and when I get this pc/picture thing figured out I'll post lots of pictures of them.I may have to switch to posting from my tablet for awhile...don't really want to, its small and and and and....I just don't wanna :)

It is another dreary day here in coastal, southern Texas. I AM SO READY FOR SUNSHINE AGAIN!!!

I hope you all are having lovely days where ever you are today :)
