Peg People #2

So this round of Peg People I opted to do most for my Church Festival that is coming up in September.  Our Catholic Daughters of America organization has a craft booth and our Dominican Sisters have a little booth as well. I'll give the religious ones to the Sisters and the rest to the Catholic Daughters.

I'll start with the ones I've done for myself.

This is S. She loves teal and cherry blossoms. And she wants to paint her room just like her little peggie :)

This is H. She loves big bows, pink and sparkly things. And she wears her black skater skirt ALL THE TIME ;) I am now trying to figure out what to do for R. Then I'll work on my husband and myself :) Then I'll have the whole family!

Just a winter one I tried. You can't really tell but it has a sparkly paint over coat.

Got to have a Santa and Mrs. Clause and some pilgrims for the Holidays. Still need to make some Native Americans and other Christmas things.

I really don't know what to call these ladies. I'm not sure I want to keep them for Christmas or what. I do have some Christmas things these colors. I'll have to see how it works.

These will be going to the Catholic Daughter's booth

Again, not sure what to call these littles. I'm useless when it comes to names

I really love the colored hair!! These little girls are about 2 inches

Ninjas!!!! These guys are about 2 1/2 inch.

And my little animals and babies. These guys are about  1 inch.

And now for the ones for the Sister's booth.

Got to have some Sisters for the Sister's booth. I need to find out how many Sisters we have so I can make one for each of them.

Christ in the Eucharist.

St. Nickolas

I did several Nativities. I was trying out different colors of blue for Mary. I don't have a favorite. I like them all :)

And St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadelupe. These were fun to make. For the little image on St. Juan I just printed out the Blessed Virgins image and modge podged it on. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Ok, I really can't wait for my new set of peggies to get here!!! So many ideas swirling around in my head.

Peg People

I am addicted to painting peg people. I don't remember where I first saw them. Probably Pinterest! But I ABSOLUTELY love making them.

I first made a set for my niece who is getting married. Then I had to make some for my sister and her husband. So then I had to make one for my mom and dad. And it just snowballed from there.

I just finished a batch for the upcoming church festival in Sept. I have SO many I want to make. My sister keeps telling me I should start hocking them on facebook. Yea, we'll see.

My niece and her fiance'

My other niece and her husband...yes, BIG Clemson Tiger fans

My sister and her husband....had to put the Mickey on the shirt!

My Mom and Dad. I made Mom's outfit just like one she wore to Disney and we kept calling her princess. My Dad is taken from a picture we have of when he was out fishing and he had his big pole while out on a little island getting bait.

I then moved on my the two Priests at our Parish. They turned out really cute. I gave them to their respective copies. I know for sure one of them thought they were really cute.

princess and knight

Next came a couple of different characters I wanted to do for the pre-k 4 classroom at school.

boy and girl pirate

kids in the school uniform

Next I did some for a friends little boys. These are from Paw Patrol. I don't know their names.

And, of course, The Hulk and Captain America

I love these Halloween ones. I just need to find something to do for hats!

I did this Checkov the day after Anton Yelchin passed away. He was a favorite young actor of mine for a long time.

Each one of these represents my favorite attraction from  each  Disney World park. The Haunted Mansion from Magic Kingdom. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror from Hollywood Studios. The Expedition Everest from Animal Kingdom. And the Tea Caddy( a shop in the England part of the park) from Epcot.

These are just the beginnings :) I have way more to show later. AND I just ordered more peggies the other day. I can't wait to get at it again!!

Ya'll have a wonderful Monday. Me? I'm going to be cleaning. H's birthday is coming up on Wednesday and I have kolaches to get ready for :)

disclaimer : some of these I copied from Pinterest. I may have tweaked them a bit but I generally have to have something to look at before I can do anything!

Hiatus?

Well here I am after a long hiatus. Why was there a hiatus? Don't have a clue. I guess I just wasn't feeling it? I guess I was just living life? Whatever the reason, I'm back now.

So what have I been up to? Well, for awhile there I was real busy with the end of school. This year was a really busy end of year. I did a lot of subbing and helping out with festivities etc.

I have mainly been crocheting and, my new passionate hobby, painting peg people. I have finally finished up my daughter's friends blankets and have moved on to my niece's wedding blanket. Plus, I have started one for my sister to put in her camper. I am also working on one for each of my daughters. They have told me that it's their turn to have blankets :)

I was able to go visit my sister and mom last month. My oldest R was able to come with us. It was a nice little trip. We mainly went shopping at the gazillion Goodwill's in the area. R was able to get about 5 dresses, 2 jeans, a jacket and maybe 7 shirts all for under $50. She was in desperate need of some clothes. She doesn't get to go shopping much. I really didn't think she would want clothes from Goodwill. But she went to town. She had a very good eye and was able to get some high quality things, in great condition. I think H's favorite thing she got was a green alien( from Toy Story) onesie/pajama thingy. It's huge and fluffy and will be warm in the winter :). S was able to get a few Japanese pieces. A couple of Saki cups and some chests with the Asian look to them. She has really become interested in the Japanese culture.

We are in the middle of a hot summer. We aren't really doing much. Just watching some movies and staying out of the heat. I am trying desperately to save some money. I had half of S's graduation trip money saved up when we had to use it for income tax. AARRGGHH. I am hoping that I will be able to get enough saved back up by next June. If I'm good, I think I can do it.
S is volunteering at the local hospital one day a week. She is a lucky girl in the fact that she gets to spend the time with her Great Aunt. My Aunt is the head of the volunteers and was able to put her on her shift :)

So today I will leave you with the pictures of the two graduation blankets and a shot of my peg people.

Ya'll have a great Friday and weekend.

Each square represents a different Disney character
I tried so hard to crochet a chameleon to go with Rapunzel's tower but I'm just not that talented :)

I really am addicted to painting these right now. This is only about half of what I have and I plan on ordering some more people today :) :)

February

February has pretty much come and gone with nary a word from me :) It's been a busy month without it being busy? Confusing, I know! Meaning, I've had things to do but not so much that it was an overwhelming month. Yeppers, that about sums it up.

The weather has been phenomenal!! Perfect open widow weather. Perfect walking weather. Perfect be outside with a project weather. Perfect be outside and crochet weather!

Ash Wednesday was a great day. I let S come to Mass before school started so she could have her ashes without waiting all day. It's always wonderful to be able to start your day with a Mass. She misses it, I think. It really does set your soul and brain on the right track.

Valentine's Day. I bet you are thing lots of romancing went on. Nope. We really don't go in for all they hype. Plus,  this year we were able to go to the in-laws for my FIL's 90th birthday. They had a little birthday party for him. Even with his Alzheimers he was really excited about his party. Since it was on a Sunday, the girls and I got up early and went to Mass so that we would still have time to be able to go with the rest of the family to their Methodist church. THAT was a totally different experience. I have been a Catholic a long time. Coming up on 13 yrs. And before that I was Lutheran. Before that I was nothing. I have been to a Methodist service a couple of times and a few more ,other, churches over the years. So, I had kind of forgotten the "feel" of a protestant church. I was really off kilter for a bit without the structure of the liturgy. I am glad my girls had a chance to see what it was like. They don't really remember what it was like before we converted.
This particular church was no longer part of the Methodist family. Apparently, it is so small that they weren't bringing in enough tithes. They were set loose. They kept most of the ideas and part of the name. VERY casual. I don't even think they have a permanent preacher. I think there were, maybe about 25-30 people total. And about 6 of those were all one family :).The man giving the sermon was a local high school science teacher. He did a pretty good job.
Anyway ( I kind of went off on a squirrel chase there) we were at a party and on the road for all of Valentine's Day.

So, I have been refinishing an old phone box, restarting my Rapunzel blanket, walking, taking S to UIL One Act practices/ competitions, and purging this month. Lots of stuff to keep me happily busy....idle hands, you know!

Ya'll have a Blessed weekend! I'll be taking a nap today. I've been up since 3am. Couldn't sleep and I needed to be up before 5 am anyway. S has another UIL thingy going on. Today it's Prose and Poetry. Just a practice competition. She's got this!!!

Spring?

I have been enjoying the beautiful spring weather we are having. Seriously. It's been in the 70's. It even hit 80 in my backyard the other day. And because the weather is so gorgeous I have become somewhat of a dork. Yeah, a complete goober. You see, I walk laps in my backyard. It's not a big backyard but big enough to lap. It really is goofy. Sometimes I just don't want to waste the time driving to where I like to walk. And while I am doing a load of laundry or cooking, I can just head out and take a few laps...anything to get me up and moving :)  I can walk my neighborhood, and I do, but most times I like to stick to the yard and play with my dog and cats.
Yep. They get so excited when they see me head for the back door. My dog, Moxie, always looks at me expectantly. All I have to do is nod and say let's go. She runs outside and gets her ball and tears it to shreds...little bitty pieces!! Simba will run around the "track" ahead of me and flop right in my path. Then dart from one set of bushes to the banana trees. Bella will laze in a lawn chair and meow at me as I walk by. Today, I picked her up and carried her as I walked several laps. She loved it!!!

They sure do enjoy playing with each other.

With it being so nice out lately, I have found myself in the garden aisle of every store I go to.
DISNEY!

I just love this Alice. She is just so cute sitting there!

I dropped poor Mickey. I have since doctored him up and set him outside. He is quite happy sitting with my garlic.

I did bring this home with me too. I just don't quite know what to put in it though. I really need to think on it awhile. I just love anything red with white polka dots. Added bonus if it's Minnie!!

Yesterday, I didn't get to spend the day outside much at all. I was asked  to chaperone S's One Act Play practice. Woo hoo, I got to ride the bus. It's been awhile since I've had that "privilege".
Riding the bus as an out of shape 50 yr old is NOT as much fun as riding the bus as a fit 15 yr old !!!

I sure am hoping that they will do well in the competition. They have a couple of months to go so they have plenty of time to work out the kinks. I am going to brag on S a bit though....she has a small part but she didn't have a critique at the end. As her teacher said " No critique is a good critique".  So a round of applause for S!!! Love that kid!!!

Alrighty, I am off. While C and H watch the Superbowl, I am going to get some crocheting done while I wait for Downton Abbey to come on!

Hope ya'll had a good weekend!!

Sweet Bella

I was sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather when my sweet, little Bella decided to come sit in my lap. She has never done that outside before. Inside--no problem. Outside---never.
Luckily I had my tablet with me and I was able to capture these cute pictures.
Oh, how I love this cat. She was about 4 weeks old when we got her and I had the privilege of feeding her( and her brother) about every 2 hrs. And because of this it is still expected that I stand by her while she eats.
She waits for me to go to bed....actually, she sits by the bedroom door and demands I go to bed. When I am at the computer early in the morning she sits on the table and pats me on the head until I have her full attention, sometimes with claws out. She responds when I ask her questions and will even start the conversation occasionally.
The only thing that would make her perfect is if she would voluntarily give me furry, purry kisses. I have to steal them :)

Walk About

This little stinker decided to go on a walk about last week. For two nights and most of two days he was gone. I didn't really realize how much I have come to  like this cat. I really was getting worried and a bit sick to my stomach thinking he might be gone.
I have been having a bit of trouble warming up to Simba. I think it is because of the fact that he is a bit aggressive with my Bella. He has become better but he still will go after her for no reason. Or for any sane human reason. I'm sure he has plenty of kitty reasons to pounce on her out of blue :).
But like I said, I was very surprised at how much I was worried about him.
I woke up one morning and there he was at the back door. He just sauntered in ate something and went right back outside! Gee, thanks, I love you too, you little @#$%.
I think another reason I have had a hard time warming up to him is because he isn't a cuddler. Only when he is total zonkered will he allow us to hold him for any length of time. He's a fun cat to watch and play with though. He'll chase/pounce on anything!! And he loves to walk around the yard with me, darting from one bush to another. Since it is a beautiful day, I think I will do just that.

Hope ya'll are having a great Sunday!
