My Poor Baby

Waiting patiently to see the Doc

My poor S. Sunday she began having an ear ache. By Monday morning she was crying with pain. I take her to the clinic, get the ear drops and all is taken care of. Or so I thought.
Her other ear starts hurting on Tuesday and the drops don't seem to be helping. She's not hungry and even a bit sick to her stomach. Last night she comes, again, crying to my room because of the pain. So, back to the Doc. we go.
Three shots --and who knows how much money--later she is back in bed catching up on sleep.
She received an antibiotic shot, one for the inflammation and one for the pain. Plus, she will continue with the drops, with new drops that will help with the pain AND oral antibiotics.
I will head back to Walmart in a bit to get the rest of her meds. I have been to that stupid store 4 times in the last 3 days.
I so hope this does the trick. I don't think she can take much more. She really wants to sleep :).

I sure hope your week is going better than S's. Have a great Thursday!

Goodwill. Simba. And Disney.

Alrighty, I'm here. I'll start today with follow up on some of the stuff I bought at Goodwill with my sister.

This is my ceramic Christmas tree. It was pretty enough by itself. Unfortunately it really didn't fit my style. Soooo, I broke out the spray paint( goodness, I do love to spray paint) and my craft paint and got busy. I just dabbed paint on the little ornament spots and dry brushed where the snow is. I was trying to get the star to be solid but it turned out nice with the dry brush effect. I'm really happy with it. It really has a vintage feel. Exactly what I was going for!

Not exactly a before and after but it does show what I did. These were cheap dollar-ish Christmas houses from someplace like Walmart. They were only about 50 cents or less. I took the stone spray paint and got to it. These will be the start of my Halloween town. I love how the movie theater one turned out. It kind of gives the feel of Tower of Terror at Disney. Yea, I know. I'm probably reaching on that one :) H suggested that I turn the little wreaths on the one house into jack o lanterns. I might just give it a try.

I love this one! The reindeer was a metallicy gold color with sparkles. The base was a blackish-brownish color. Yep, spray paint to the rescue! I will probably put peppermints in it. I really love the red and white look for Christmas!

I have more but I ended up putting them away before I took pictures. I think, though, that these were the only ones I made over. I really had a good time with these!!

Now. This little &*%#^.  Oh boy is he a stinker!!! So sweet but so naughty!! My oldest, R, found him back in November. Soaking wet, in the rain at the mall. A tiny little thing. Unfortunately, she is unable to keep him. She is moving into a new apartment with all new furniture etc. Since he is a hellion, her boyfriend decided he didn't want him anymore. It is for the best. They both work so he was left alone all day. He didn't like that at all :) So we stepped up and took him in. Yes, I have second guessed that right from the start.
Do I really want another cat? Yes and no. He is only about 9 months old so he still has all his kittenish behavior. And not being fixed really has been bugging my sweet Bella. She does NOT like him at all. It has taken a couple of days but he and Moxie ( the dog) seem to be doing ok.
Today I will be calling the vet to get his happy little self taken care of. Hopefully that will stop him bugging Bella and stop the marking around my house. Yep, he has hit a few spots in my house. Not a big fan of the cat pee smell!!!  I'm also hoping that after getting him fixed he can go outside so he can use up all his energy there! He is a smart little thing too. He just now came up to me and did his little purr/meow so I would get the laser pointer out and play with him. He is too damn cute! I have a love/hate relationship with him.

This was done using this

Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but when I was at my sister's last month I casually mentioned that I wanted to be at Disneyworld at some point in my 50th year. I really wanted to celebrate this milestone at the happiest place on earth. She froze. Looked at me with a gleam in her eye and said "Wait a minute, we can do this". "Yea, right, I said". And lo and behold a trip was planned. I'm still in shock. Of course I had to run it by my husband first. He isn't a big fan of Disney and he really isn't a fan of me going off vacationing by myself. But he is such a good man that he lets me anyway. He has always been good about letting me go and blow on my own. Of course it was easier when he was in the Coast Guard. I could go while he was underway. It's a little harder for him now that he is home more.
Our original plan was to go in January. We were discussing the budget one day and she asked "why  wait?" We are now going in September. YEAH!!!! I am SO excited!!! I won't yet be 50 but I'm still gonna celebrate!!!!

Bill

Just sitting her thanking God that Tropical storm Bill is not blowing/washing away my home.  Still praying for all the people who ARE being negatively affected by Bill. I know that there will be lots of flooding north of me and possibly in some areas around me. I really am lucky this time. We ended up being right in the middle of the path of the eye.

Cajun Village

Ok, so here I am, finally writing my post on my trip to my sister's. It was a really great trip.
Just me. The trip down was an uneventful drive. I rarely listen to the radio so I took the opportunity this trip. The theme song for this trip was Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. It played on every station at least twice in each hour. I'll tell you a little secret---I really didn't mind. I quite like the song.
At one point I got totally freaked out. Why? As I was switching stations I heard Casey Kasem with the last five songs of the top forty countdown. Yea, from 1979 no less. Totally bizarre and totally awesome!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take any pictures along the way. You know, driving and all. The only pictures I got were when we were at The Cajun Village in Sorrento, La. It isn't too far from my sister's house in Praireville.

We first made a stop at The Coffee House for lunch. I had the Shrimp Bouree. Again, I did not get a picture of it. I know. I know. Slacker. It is like a gumbo( please if you can describe it better, please do) over a beinget. Divine!! We all did share several orders of beignets as well. That, I did get a picture of.

Again, divine!

We then walked around some of the shops. We really didn't shop too much because my sister had her eyes on Goodwill.

These are some of the buildings that are unused at the moment. It's just fabulous back there. Swampy and old and just fabulous.

And then there are these guys. I really don't know how long they have been there. Too cute for words.

I'll next get into some of our Goodwill shopping. And I'll discuss another trip my sister and I have planned!

Randomness

Just different flowers in my yard. Don't know what they are. They came in a mixed flower packet.
The last one is my wild poinsettia. It was a cloudy day so they really aren't showing up as vibrant as they really are.

This is my little Anole friend. Everyday he comes out to sun him. He never leaves the Mother-in-Law plant. He has the most beautiful skin, whether green or brown. My favorite is when it is in between the two.
I cant but think of Jurassic Park with the last picture. You know the scene where the guy looks up and sees the Velociraptor and says "clever girl". OOoooo, I just get chills :) My favorite part of the whole movie!

I am heading out tomorrow to my Sister's in Louisiana. I am very much looking forward to it. It will be just me. Yeppers. I and I alone will be traveling. I really am looking forward to seeing my Mom and Sister. We don't have much planned. My Sister is in a Goodwill mood so she wants to hit all the stores in the area. Of course, we will get some beignets. There is a hole in the wall place near her that has better beignets than Cafe Du Mondes in New Orleans. Of course, it is probably the same mix they use but the old little building would certainly add flavor to anything!

I hope ya'll are having much drier days than I am.

Sun, Sand and Seagulls

There is a little man made beach less than five minutes from my house. You can tell by the sand. It is in a protected spot in the bay so there are only tiny waves and you can go way out and it is still only as deep as your knees. For me it is the perfect spot to get about an hours worth of sun, sand and seagulls. There is one itty, bitty problem though....this is across the water from us.

I wouldn't say it is in the direct line of view but its there. Yes, I live smack-dab in the middle of two chemical plants. I know some of you are cringing right about now, but it is what it is and I'm stuck living here for now.

Though it was a bit cloudy we took advantage of the straw umbrellas. As you can see the beach is connected with a campground.

While I was laying there soaking up the sporadic sun, I just had to take some pictures of these guys. I  couldn't resist taking a picture of the cute little knobby knees. And I crack myself up every time I see this last one. I don't know why, I just do.

I think I will be going back as soon as I have some more free time and get the annual pass for the beach. It is less than twenty dollars for the year. Since we also go walking here it is good deal!!! I love my little beach!!

Cedar Wasxwings

Looky what I had nesting in my tree the other evening. Cedar Waxwings. I have never seen them before. Oh. My. Are they ever gorgeous. I am SO happy that my camera has an awesome zoom. I just happened to glance up in my tree and saw these guys and I knew that they weren't a natural part of my birdy friends. So I ran for my camera---running with fingers crossed---hoping that they would still be there when I got back. Yea!!! They were. I must have taken about 60 photos. Basically all the same. I just couldn't stop taking pictures!!! I'm still just so giddy with excitement. I usually just see a handful of different birds so when I see a different one....I just want to burst. My poor girls were just looking at me like "whatever". I went back out the next evening but they had already moved on.
Thank you Lord for small Blessings!
