Just Another Blah Saturday

The weather is very much blah again!! Cloudy,
cloudy with bits of rain here and there. Some very big bits of rain too. We lost power for a bit on Thursday and the next town over had some minor damage due to a tornado.  I'm so very grateful it missed us and no one was hurt!

I've been filling in at school with the pre-k 4 class. Wow! I love kids SO much but I am glad I'm not in there all the time anymore. It was a rough week. 16 of those little cutie pies. Some were very challenging!!! Sweeties but challenging!

Last Sunday S and I went to my Aunt's house for a visit and to go through some stuff she has collected over the years. Her and her Husband have been going to auctions and estate sales for about 15 yrs. They have decided tosale their house so she is needing to purge. I did my best to help her out but I don't think I made much of a dent :-)

Here is what I brought home. Not a bad haul.

I got some good Christmas stuff. Lots of cute vintage ornaments, quite a few brass candle sticks, S got a few figurines. I just had a great time. Not only did I get some goodies but I got to spend some time with my Aunt!

Even with it being quite blah today I really tried to be outside. It's just not working for me. I did manage to get a few pictures of some of the stuff I'm growing.

There are actually the first flower's I have ever been able to grow from seeds! I just don't seem to have a green thumb when it comes to flowers. Don't ask me what kind they are because I have no idea :) They are part of a wild seed package. I just sprinkled them in the bucket and woohoo they grew!

If you look real close you can see the jalapeƱo growing. My husband picked these out. He lovers to make poppers for the grill. And if you don't happen to know what poppersare-- they are jalapeƱos stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon....at least that is our version... so good!!!!

And these are my wild poinsettia fluffing out and my aloe vera blooming. The poinsettia sprouted on its own from one of my mom's plants and the aloe I got almost 25 yrs ago from a guy my husband worked with. We were still newlyweds and it was one of my very first plants. I love that it is still going strong!! Like my marriage !!!???!!! Haha.

Well, I think the dreariness has really gotten to me. I might just have to curl up on the couch and watch a movie and finish off one of my crochet projects.  More on that later :)

HoPe ya'll are having a great weekend!!

Life

A lot has been going on lately and I don't know how many times I have started to post. I guess I've been a bit non-committal lately :) Not to mention that any and all pictures I have taken lately will not post. Nope, not a single one. Something is up-or shall we say down?- with my computer. I'm at a loss. I know NOTHING about computers. Just enough to get me by :)

Easter was fabulous! Mass was one of the best in a long time. Father really gave it his all that Sunday. I just love our current priest. He is young yet very old school. Lots of bells and incense :) Literally :) He is just awesome!

All is going well at the MudgiePie household. My oldest came for a short visit a week or so ago. She is doing great! She is planning a trip to New Zealand. I sure hope it doesn't fall through and they really get to go. She is most excited about getting to see Hobbiton. She is a massive Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fan. I was so proud of her when she first read JRR Tolkein at 11 yrs. She was hooked right from the start!

S just had UIL One Act Play. She did fabulous!!!! She is so darn cute! Unfortunately they didn't get to progress on. She did well but she is glad it is over!

H and I started watching the Alien movies. That is something big for H. She HATES scary movies. We have already seen the first two and will be seeing the third one today sometime. It really is fun to watch them with her. She stays hidden under the blanket or behind the cat most of the time :)

I've been crocheting a lot lately and when I get this pc/picture thing figured out I'll post lots of pictures of them.I may have to switch to posting from my tablet for awhile...don't really want to, its small and and and and....I just don't wanna :)

It is another dreary day here in coastal, southern Texas. I AM SO READY FOR SUNSHINE AGAIN!!!

I hope you all are having lovely days where ever you are today :)

Hello My Old Friend

I have been missing you my dear friend Mr. Sunshine :)

Yesterday was glorious. Warm and sunny. I knew I was missing the sun but I didn't realize how badly I was missing it until yesterday. I didn't realize how the drab skies had been affecting me. I was so productive yesterday!!! I mowed, trimmed tree limbs, washed a car, did 5 loads of laundry and even sewed a tote bag. I KNOW!!!  I was even able to sit out in the middle of the yard and soak up about 30 minutes worth. Pure Bliss! It was fabulous. I was able to get some pics of some birdies and a couple of squirrels. Yesterday was a good day.

One of the many Mocking birds

My little lovey doves. And when I say lovey, I mean lovey.

I am LOVING the zoom on my new camera!

I was lucky enough to get this one shot of the Cardinal that was flitting about the yard.

This is just a smidgen of all the Redwing Blackbirds that usually cover my trees. Too bad the wings didn't show up.

Well, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Mr. Sun will still be hanging around today. I'm not finished with him yet!

Adjustment

So we are adjusting to having only one cat again. Man we went through this a year ago December with our Winkey and now again with Bunny. Winkey was really hard because I bottled fed him as a baby. Not to mention that he was H's best friend growing up. She was a wreck. I wont say it's been overly hard dealing with Bunny because we only had her since May. But we have known her for about 11 yrs. She wandered up at my parents cabin in '04. My Dad thought H would want to have her but we decided that she had already bonded with Dad so we left her there. Bunny was probably the sweetest cat I have ever known. She was just dainty (but tough) and tiny and such a cuddler.
So now we are back to just Bella. And let me tell you, she has been acting strange. She did the same thing when Winkey died. She is overly meow-y, overly affectionate, and overly annoying :) She is such a snotty little cat. I think she is telling us "look at me...I'm the only one...love me" :)

Seriously though, how can you not love her?

Sweet Little BunnyFur

My sweet little BunnyFur. We had to put her to sleep this morning. She was just old and her kidneys weren't working. She had a good long life. She died in her favorite place, all snuggled up in my arms. I sure am going to miss her sitting up here at the computer with me. She had a way of forcing herself between me and the keyboard :)

It's Been So Dreary.

Here we are again. Me taking my time and not being able to post for awhile. Well, it's more like not feeling like it vs. not being able. It's been SO dreary here plus I was sick for awhile. Stomach bug one week and the crud the next. Still not feel totally up to snuff.
I also had a childhood friend's Dad pass away. I drove 3 hours to meet up with another one of our friends-one that I hadn't seen in about 20 yrs-to ride together to the visitation. She still lives in the house she grew up in. It was like going back in time walking in that house. All those childhood memories.  We had another 2 hrs. to catch up on the drive to the funeral home. What I found sad was the fact that our friend didn't really act like she cared that we were there. She didn't even recognize me. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that she had just lost her Dad. I know that, I've been through that. But her brother responded more warmly and he was probably 10 the last time I saw him. It was just a very awkward situation. I don't know, maybe I was/am being a bit selfish? I just know how appreciative I was when I saw people at my Dad's funeral who we hadn't seen in a very long while. I guess we all have our own way of dealing with things. I have been praying for her and her family. I know there are going to be some difficult years ahead for them.

And some more sad news...my sweet little Bunny Fur isn't feeling well either. On Friday we noticed her not eating and generally not feeling well. I wasn't able to get her to the vet until yesterday. The vet kept her to start an iv and was going to get some blood work done yesterday afternoon. He was supposed to call me but didn't. I suppose I'll call a little later to see what is going on. This is the part I dislike the most about having pets. Such sadness. H is the one most upset. She is dealing well though. S just takes it more as part of life. I envy that a bit. Sometimes H and I feel things a bit too much :)

Wow, after reading over this post it seems like I am living a sad, sad life at the moment. It's not all sad. I am quite proud of myself for going to Lowe's and buying a lawn mower all by myself the other day. Like I said earlier, the weather has been abysmal here. We had about 2 days of partial sunshine. On the first day I decided to get out and mow. But of course I couldn't get it started. And, of course, that was the first day of my husband's 2 week work schedule. I knew rain was coming so I made an executive decision and made a beeline to Lowe's. Woohoo for me. I put my big girl panties on and got things done :) It's so nice knowing that the yard is mowed when we have days of yucky weather ahead of us. I'm hoping in a few more days it will clear enough so I can get to the back yard :)

It's also spring break. I love spring break. I love not having a schedule to do anything. I was going to take the girls to an outlet mall to do some clothes shopping but, alas, with the purchase of the mower and the upcoming vet bill its a no-go. I'll figure something out for the girls to do. Clean the house? Bahahaha. They would hate me :) We'll probably hit the small, local zoo. Maybe have a picnic. Or maybe snuggle up in the rainy weather and read or watch movies all day?
I really should get some crocheting done. Its' been weeks since I have done any. I'm missing it!And I'm missing sunshine!!! I really need me some sunshine :)
